Pablo Legorreta

Chairman of the Board

Pablo Legorreta is the CEO of Royalty Pharma, a company he founded 1996.  Royalty Pharma is the industry leader in the acquisition of revenue-producing intellectual property with over $16 billion in royalty asset – principally royalties in leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology products.  Royalty Pharma does not discover, develop, manufacture or market biopharmaceutical products.  Royalty Pharma funds innovation in life sciences, indirectly, when it acquires existing royalty interests from the original innovators (academic institutions, research hospitals, foundations and inventors) or, directly, when it partners with life sciences companies to co-develop and co-fund products in late-stage human clinical trials.  Royalty Pharma has assembled a portfolio that includes royalty interests in 8 of the top 30 drugs in the world.  In 2016, Royalty Pharma recorded $2.47 billion in royalty revenue and $2.4 billion in EBITDA.

Mr. Legorreta is involved with a number of educational, cultural and not-for-profit organizations.  He is the Founder and Chairman of Alianza Médica para la Salud (AMSA), a privately-funded, not-for-profit foundation whose goal is to educate Latin American doctors and healthcare providers to improve the quality of healthcare in Latin America.  Since its foundation in 2010 AMSA has provided over 400 scholarships to Mexican and Latin American doctors and healthcare providers to study abroad.  Mr. Legorreta serves on the Board of Governors of the New York Academy of Sciences, the Boards of Trustees of Rockefeller University, the Hospital for Special Surgery, the Pasteur Foundation (U.S. affiliate of the French Institut Pasteur), the Open Medical Institute, and the Park Avenue Armory.

Prior to founding Royalty Pharma, Mr. Legorreta spent a decade at Lazard Frères in Paris and New York where he provided cross-border M&A and corporate finance advisory services to European and U.S. corporations.  He received his degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.  Mr. Legorreta lives in New York City with his wife Almudena and their two children.
