Erik Berglund

Erik Berglund, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Transplantation Surgery at Karolinska Institute focused on transplantation tolerance, novel immunosuppression treatments in allotransplantation and xenotransplantation, normothermic machine perfusion, and ischemia-reperfusion-injury. Erik is trained at Karolinska Institute and Karolinska University Hospital where he specialized in Transplantation Surgery and Translational Immunology. He earned his Ph.D. degree discovering novel molecular biology aspects of soft tissue sarcomas and has worked as a faculty member at Columbia University and the Columbia Center for Translational Immunology (CCTI) in New York. Erik has served as a member of the Scientific Committee for the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) and its Organising Executive, and as an advisor for several immunology-based biopharmaceutical companies.
